Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it just occurred to me...
Since nobody actually knows what date the Mayan calendar actually ends its cycle on (it's a huge jumble of three calendars - real archaeologists and historians know you can't just pinpoint a day - it's anywhere from the XVII th to the XXIII rd century.).
Which means...
As soon as Dec 21, 2012 rolls along, someone is just going to go:
"Oops! We forgot to carry the two - it's February 4, 2014".
(They're not going to let that profitable industry go).

I won't go through all of them, but the I-Ching, for example, is based on the binary system. Yes, you can get 21/12/2012 from the binary system. In fact, you can get any numbers you want from the binary system.

Real archaeologists and historians have never said that the world will end at the end of the cycle, nor have they said that the mayans believed so.
The only people concerned with *precisely* matching the dates of the Mayan calendar are the new age charlatans making money off of their ruse. And they don't have the knowledge to do so most times anyway. They'll just continue making crap up.

What is with these Doomsday Freaks They always say that 2012 will be the end of the world?
They always use Nostradaumus and Mayan Calendar. They don't use evidence like the USGS do like when the Seismologists say that there is a chance within the next 20 years the Hayward fault will rupture at a 7.0. Or Nasa sayng that there's a chance a Meteor or Asteroid will hit the earth within the next 100 years and back it up with proof. It's cults like Heavens gate that use Doomsday tactics to convince people to belive in DoomsDay Remember 12 years ago they told us that the world will end in 2000. It did not happen If 12-21-2012 does not happen they will move the date to February 20, 2020 or February 22, 2022 PS I made these dates up. Watch in 6 years and the same Doomsday people will use these date.
It's just garbage. People have tried to predict things for thousands of years. Someone told me once that I would die. They will be right at one time or another, I just hope it isn't tomorrow. "And Yes, the world is coming to an end. But, NO ONE knows exactly when.
