Do you have a disaster relief/emergency kit?

Please tell us:
A. Where you live
B. What type of emergency/natural disaster you are most worried about
C. What is in your kit?
Thanks! I've been thinking about putting one together. I've always heard about other people having them, but now that I have two small children, I guess it's time =)

I live in Utah
In Utah they're always saying that there is going to a huge earthquake, so I think that's probably what I'm most worried about.
I have two 72 hour kits (one for me and one for my husband) that have water, food (i.e. MRE's, dry pack food), glowsticks, waterproof matches, granola, a blanket, candles, toothpaste, toothbrush, a flashlight, batteries, and snacks that we both will actually want to eat. We also have a fire in a can. You can visit beprepared.com. They have a bunch of emergency preparedness stuff for pretty good prices.

Madagascar Disaster Why is no one concerned ?

I was wondering why there is no story covering Madagascar. Since January Madagascar has been being continuality being hit by a series cyclones. These cyclones have devastated the people there, and have caused major disruption in the lives of those poor people. Although UICEF has desperately tried to help ease the pains of this disaster, many children and mothers will probably die from malnutrition, because not enough news coverage has stirred up the US people into sending relief, via donations and hygiene kits. Madagascar had asked for 242 Million dollars, back in March, but received little help.
Many people are dieing because of the lack of coverage on this situation, there seems to be no concern from the US for the lives of the Malagasy people.
How can we people watch the movie Madagascar laughing not realizing the devastation they are going through right now.

You raise a good and noble point, and it is very unfortunate. My honest analysis may bother you, but I think it is pretty accurate.
The reason is that it is an island off the coast of Africa. Really tragic events have been occuring twenty four hours a day, seven days a week on that continent for centuries. It has become so normal, that it doesn't generate the shock value that a news story needs to get ratings/newspaper sales. With ratings comes sponsor money, and the news people get their paychecks. It is kind of like a shooting in Newark, NJ and one in the suburbs. The suburbs shooting is gonna make better news because 1) its rare 2) white suburban people watch the news more then people in the inner cities.
Before you get angry at the media, remember this: we do have a free press that is very competitive. If we had a state run news network, news would get air time based on its merit due to the fact that they wouldn't have to outdo another news station. With free press and free enterprise, if the media doesn't get viewers or readers, they go broke. For that reason, their job is not to provide the whole truth or the most important part of the truth, just the part of the truth people who normally pay money to buy a paper will be interested in reading. Does that answer your question?
