Wenchuan 512, Haiti 112, Chile 227, please read on end. Is very strange is not it? Maya prediction: December 21, 2012 the dark night comes after the December 22 of the dawn will never come. Mayan prophecy or coincidence really, that human beings still alive? How human beings do?
The Mayans did not make any prediction about 2012 and their calendar does NOT end. The entire 2012 hoax was invented by people who are delusional and know nothing about science. There is no scientific evidence that anything unusual will happen in 2012.
Here is a really good website that covers all the various claims about 2012 and about the charlatans who are promoting it. Go to it and read about the things that have you concerned. They give sources for their information and they aren't selling anything. The others are NASA Senior Scientist Dr. David Morrison, Dr. Donald Yeomans of JPL Near Earth Object Program, and Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Director of the Hayden Planetarium, all saying that the 2012 tripe is false.

The Mayans did not predict anything.
All the stuff about the triumph of this, the transformation of that and the coming to terms with the fundamental dichotomies of the other is all recent nonsense invented by three or four fake scholars who made money from quick and nasty books, lying DVDs, fraudulent TV shows and attracting traffic to woo-woo websites.
This stuff is more than wrong, it's mostly lies.
Pole shifts - no, not a chance.
Magnetic poles flip - no, they will just keep moving as usual.
Mayan calendar - one of their calendars ends in 2012. There is no prediction attached to this and even if there was, it would be astrology and that has been disproved so many times that it's not worth any more words.
Solar maximum - expected in 2011, not 2012 and it happens every 11 years anyway.
Planetary alignments - about as far from an "alignment" as you can imagine. Planets will be all over the place. Venus will transit the Sun in June 2012, just as it did in 2004 and on a regular roughly 110 year cycle before that. No noticeable effect then except on astronomers, some of whom will take measurements, no expected effect this next time.
Planet X / Niburu / black hole / brown dwarf / wandering planet / big asteroid - No. Predicted for 2003 by loonies, one of whom was a woman who claimed telepathic contact with aliens. No sign of it then and still no sign of it.
25,800 year cycles. This is called "precession of the equinoxes" and was discovered a bit more than 2100 years ago. It has been happening since the Earth formed billions of years ago and will not stop, start or change direction in 2012. There is no particular significance in the direction the poles of rotation happen to be pointing at present or in 2012.
Bible codes - drivel. Disproved within months of the first book coming out in 1997, similar "coded" (actually random) messages can be found in any book or newspaper.
Revelation - nobody ever made sense of that, the evidence for that is that there are so many different interpretations.
Nostradamus - he never predicted anything accurately. Many editions of his quatrains contain faked verses inserted long after he died.
Galactic central plane - we are near it, so astronomers say, but we have always been near it.
Photon belt - this one is almost the silliest of the lot. Supposed to be round the "7 sisters". This solar system is heading away from them, not towards them. It does not exist anyway.
It isn't a theory, it's not even an hypothesis. This is all fake scholarship, pseudo-science, lies, superstition and abject delusion.
