Coming soon! PART II 2012 "The Maya Calendar Conspiracy"
2012 Calendars "R Us"
The Mayans were amazing people! While we are fixated on the December 21, 2012 date, it's just one of their man calendars! While we primarily follow the Gregorian calendar of the Julian, the Maya has TWENTY TWO (count em) CALENDARS. The Gregorian calendar is the internationally accepted civil calendar and it was first proposed by the Calabrian doctor Aloysius Lilius, and decreed by Pope Gregory XIII, after whom the calendar was named, on 24 February 1582. Now you know, the REST of the story!
Seriously though, the Gregorian was a reform of the Julian calendar. Gregory's "papal bull" does not ordain any particular year-numbering system, but uses the Anno Domini system which counts years from the traditional Incarnation of Jesus, and which had spread throughout Europe during the Middle Ages. The Gregorian calendar modifies the Julian calendar's regular four-year cycle of leap years.
But on to "other calendars"
Are these many Mayan calendars prophecies or just the product of a bored and ancient culture with nothing else to keep their minds occupied? But, how did they know about precession, the 26,000 year cycle of the earths wobble around the north celestial pole. How did they figure this phenomenon and then so accurately lay it out within their calendars? Surely that's not just an interesting question, but a profoundly exciting one.
>The Egyptian calendar starts of their history began in 3100BC.
>The Hindu calendar (Kali Yuga cycle) began in 3102BC.
>The Chinese calendar began in 2697BC.
(Subtract 4705 from 2008 and you get 2697BC)
>Catholic Bishop Usher dates the Bible (Adam-Eve) at 4004BC
>Mayan calendar began at 3114BC
But what about Atlantis and Lemuria? Did they actually exist?
Are all of these calendars a result of some sort of cosmic synchronicity, morphic resonance? It seems that 3100 has some sort of significance around the globe. But what is that significance? None of the other calendars END. The unique concept of all 22 Mayan calendars discovered so far is that they all come to an END. Question! Can a calendar that end? No known civilization has created a calendar that ends. Calendars GUIDE us, give hope to the imprisoned as they mark the walls of their captivity, and help keep us from mindless chaos.
What happens when we die? Do the calendars stop? Does TIME stop? When we reach the speed of light, Albert Einstein reminds us that time is altered- like BIG TIME (pun intended). Which calendar are you following? And, how much TIME do we have left?
About the Author
As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. One cannot know the future without knowing the past which holds clues to what is on the horizon. The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.

My biggest piece of advice would be to not start off by stating that the world will end. This makes it seem like you subscribe to that view. Instead, say something like "Some demagogues say that the world will end in 2012". That way the reader knows you're not one of the crazy people who believes in "Planet X"
