Nostradamus election predictions?

Now I am not willing to admit that I am influenced by prophecies, but Nostradamus has a pretty good batting average.

I am completely non partisan and unbiased, but I read that he said the "elder" will win with the "Imbecile Queen" who "will rise from the snow." By no real stretch to the imagination, it sounds like McCain and Palin.

How do you take this or prophecies in general?
Some of you offer interesting points: we believe that Nostradamus was an oracle because the media tell us he was. The media can distort and fabricate anything which we trust as factual. Under that same logic, we don't even know if Nostradamus even existed. I thank those few of you who grounded me to think rationally once more, and I ask others who read this question to take it only as a form of entertainment and nothing more.

The internet hoax calls this Century X, Quatrain 78, which actually reads:

Sudden joy to sudden sadness
It will occur at Rome for the graces embraced
Grief, cries, tears, weeping, blood, excellent mirth
Contrary bands surprised & trussed up.

The word queen only appears in 8 quatrains and none of them remotely resemble the fake one that's circulating online:

The fake one reads:
At the war's end:
The Feeble Kept One will strike down the Night
And his Imbecile Queen will rise from the snow
Bedecked in finery and the pelt of a wolf.

Fake quatrains appeared after 9/11 and many other events. Nostradamus hasn't successfully predicted anything since his very first lucky guess, the death of the king, which gave him the credibility to write a bunch of books that people have been cramming into historical events where they don't fit ever since.
