Is Pessimism overvalued?
Pessimists often count off optimists as unrealistic, after all, expecting the worst does prepare you for the negative experiences of life. But in rational thinking, is there any place for some optimism?
All too often I read of bad news and doomsday predictions and while some can be valid warnings and needs of improvement, others seem to exist only for misery's sake.
It's completely logical to state that the glass is half empty, but isn't it equally logical to state that... hey... there's still something left?
By the way, I am asking this as a rabid pessimist and recovering nihilistic...
The world needs optimists & pessimists equally so no it is not overvalued.
But who'd wanna hang around a total pessimist?
