why does the third rambo knife have no survival kit in the handle?
the third rambo knife has no survival kit in the handle but the ones before it did .
It was merely a design change for the movie. They already had hollow handle in prev. 2 movies so point was made, and they just opted for the bigger, meaner looking knife.
That aside, hollow handle knives are rather weak in the blade/handle connection point, because the tang has not much to hold on to.
The only exception I've seen fro that rule - Chris Reeve one piece line. Those are machined for the single piece of A2 tool steel, so that problem doesn't exist. Although, as far as practicality goes there isn't much you can fit in there.

I don't know about real emergencies…but this is what I keep in my diaper bag at all times (just in case)
-change pad, wipes, diaper cream and diapers (preferable a portable case…that way you don't have to lug the whole diaper bag with you when you go somewhere like the mall)
-change of clothes…undershirt, pants (shorts) shirt and socks (don't forget extra socks…they always seem to get the dirtiest if a diaper change goes horribly wrong!)
-blankets…a heavier one and a receiving blanket
-I always carry plenty of extra facecloths…they are cheap and handy if something messy needs to be cleaned up (like spit up)
-extra nursing pads (that would be for me…had to rely on them more than once)
-bug spray and sunscreen (these types of things always get forgotten if they are left at home)
-a hat (I have one that lives in her diaper bag)
-(I know you said you only have a 3 month old, but I thought I'd share this one for the future) snack/restaurant bag…I always bring a little lunch bag filled with handy snacks like cookies, cheerios, etc, put her sippy cup in it, a bib, extra spoon and I travel with the Heinz baby foods that are in the plastic container (even though I don't use them at home…the plastic container has a lid to put back on…bring a plastic ziploc bag though they do leak…oh, I also always buy these types in the fruit varieties that I figure don't need to be heated…like applesauce) and some small toys to entertain her if we are left waiting somewhere…this has been the handiest thing in my diaper bag.
-lastly…I have my brag book (more for fun than anything, but if I get real serious…it is always a good idea to have a picture of your kids handy in case heaven forbid your little one goes missing)
